M. Shahjahan Mondal

Professor Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM)

M. Shahjahan Mondal is currently a Professor at the Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He holds an M.Sc. in Water Resources Engineering from BUET and a Ph.D. from Central Queensland University in Australia. He teaches the post-graduate courses on Watershed Hydrology, Data Management and Statistical Analysis, Agricultural Water Management and Hydrologic Statistics. He was involved in a number of research and consultancy projects and has supervised a number of MSc theses. Dr. Mondal has a number of publications on water resources planning and management in leading journals. He is currently working as an investigator in a collaborative action research on ‘Water security in peri-urban South Asia: Adapting to climate change and urbanization’ sponsored by IDRC. He is also involved in ‘Assessing health, livelihoods, ecosystem services and poverty alleviation in populous deltas’ sponsored by DFID, NERC and ESRC. His research interests are in hydrology and climate change, agricultural water management, risk-based planning, and water governance.
